Well another half term has ticked by and we have nearly made it to Christmas! We have got so much to tell you about the last few weeks.

Breakfast and Afterschool Club

The last half term has been a busy one for us and we have got a few things to share with you.

We have been enjoying the darker weather and it means we have been able to get the torches out for the children to play with. They have loved turning them on and going exploring around the playground. I wonder what exciting things they have spotted so far?

With the weather having not been great, we have been making the most of using Badger Base for lots of different activities. The children are enjoying playing games, completing jigsaws and making great models with the Lego. The hairdressers is always very well enjoyed when we get that out and what creative hairstyles are made!

As always the junk modelling is very popular and we have had some extra big boxes inside recently which the children have cut, shaped and decorated into some amazing creations.

The children really enjoyed our Christmas Party on Tuesday, we had a special party snack and played lots of different games, including musical bumps and statues. We even had a game of pin the nose on the reindeer.

Pre-School

What have we been up to...

November has been an exciting month for us in Pre-School. The children have all returned with big smiles on their faces, ready for another half term of fun. Most of the trees around us have lost all their leaves and we have had a lot that have blown into our playground, which has caused some great big leaf piles, lots of leaf fights and many giggles as we run through them

We celebrated Children in Need with the children and have raised some money to go towards a brilliant cause. Jo made some great 'Pudsey Headbands' with the children, who absolutely loved them, and they all looked so cute with them on! We have also hung up some special bunting that the children coloured in and I hope you all enjoyed the Pudsey biscuits that the children made and brought home for you all to enjoy😉.

We have been busy preparing for Christmas. The children have loved helping us to put up all the decorations and did a great job decorating both the trees. There is lots of baubles hanging up inside and outside which we have loved looking at and watching sparkle when the sun hits them. The children were all very proud of the lovely cards they have made and were excited to put a stamp on their envelope. We had a lovely walk to the post box and the children pushed them inside. Along the way we spotted lots of Christmas decorations and did some super singing. We hope they have arrived now ready for Christmas!

The PCSO's came in to chat to us about road safety and being safe when we are out and about. They reminded us how important it is to hold onto our adults hand when we are walking near the road. They brought a little zebra crossing with them and some road signs so the children could practice. The PCSO's very kindly came on our walk to the post box aswell and reminded us to 'Stop, Look and Listen' before we cross the road. A good little tip we received from them is to make sure your child knows your name, then if ever they get lost or need help they can tell the Police your name so you can be contacted quicker.

Our Christmas Parties went amazingly. We played musical bumps, statues AND chairs, followed by a yummy party snack and then a game of pass the parcel. There were some tasty prizes to be won and our winners of pass the parcel received a lovely new story book to take home and read.

How amazing were the children in our Nativity!!!! We have been practicing all of our songs so much over the last few weeks and we were so proud of them all. Unfortunately we did have some children missing on the day due to holidays/sickness but they were all superstars when we were practicing and we are so proud of them too. We have loved singing all our Christmas songs and we hope you enjoyed hearing them, the children definitely had a few favourite's. We haven't got much time left now before they go away but we do normally have a few requests throughout the year so they never really disappear.

Sadly our walk to the Christmas Tree was cancelled this morning as we were expecting the weather to be pretty horrible this morning. We have re-arranged for tomorrow though and hope to see you all there for a sing around the tree.

Here is a few pictures of the last few weeks.

Well after a very busy year it is (almost) time for us to sign off. We have one more day left that will be full of Christmas spirit with lots of excited children and adults. It has been an amazing year watching all our children grow and change into amazing little people and we are so proud of them all. We are looking forward to another great year in 2026 and can't wait to see what new adventures we will be going on.

From everyone at The Hollies we would all like to wish you a very "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year". We hope you all have a lovely couple of weeks off and are excited to hear all about it in January.

With Special Christmas Wishes,
