Summer Half Term

Breakfast and Afterschool Club
A very popular topic for afterschool and breakfast club this half term has been the World Cup, the children have been chattering away about it. Making predictions about who they think will win each game and how many goals they will score. There has been lots of pictures to colour in too.
We had a great game of bingo with all the children. Charlotte had a super helper when calling out the numbers and all the children joined in. It took a little while for someone to shout Bingo but they all loved it!
Isla has been singing some songs for us to play musical statues too and a game of Granny Footsteps or What Time is it Mr Wolf is always a big hit.
As always the craft corner is very popular. The paper, scissors, cellotape and pens are out every day. Paper aeroplanes have been zooming all around the room and we have even been making our own money boxes and handbags.
The sandpit has a been a hotspot with lots of visitors bobbing by. If the sand is wet we have had lots of sand castles, fishes, jelly and yummy cakes. When it's dry the children enjoy pouring the sand down the wheels and making them spin. It's also great for drawing pictures in.
This time of year is always a hard one as it's time to say goodbye to some of our children. A few of them have even been with us since they were just 2 and are now heading off onto new adventures in high school. We will also be saying goodbye to some children who are moving up to afterschool club at Lower Park. It is always hard saying goodbye to our children, especially when they have been with us for so long, we would like to wish you all the very best on your next adventures, hopefully, some will come back to visit us in Breakfast Club. It has been our pleasure watching and helping you to grow into amazing young people and you will all be missed.
Pre-School
What have we been up to...
Our gardening club has been very busy this half term. We have got our own Hollies Allotment, we are growing tomatoes, potatoes, pumpkins, courgette's, beetroots, carrots, radishes, peas and runner beans. Our apple tree is starting to grow some yummy green apples and we are excited to pick them once they are ready. We also have a herb garden in the playground, they all feel different and make different smells on the children's hands when they touch them. I think we might have grown the biggest courgette ever!!
Some little caterpillars came to visit us and the children have loved watching as they grow. They started off really small but grew so quickly, we were amazed at how fast! Once they got big enough the caterpillars made a chrysalis around themselves which they stayed inside for a few weeks. Then out came some beautiful butterflies. The children enjoyed watching them in the net for a couple of days and then we let them out and watched as they flew away.
We did lots of butterfly and caterpillar activities with the children whilst these were growing. We made butterfly sponges which we used with paint and water. We also made some caterpillar with kitchen roll and when you added water it made them grow twice as big.
Our soft play was a big hit in badger base, especially on a wet play day, we bounced, slid, rolled and jumped all over it. On a dry day the soft play even made it outside for us to enjoy.
Thank you to everyone that came to join us for our Father's Day open day. It was a great turn out and we know the children loved showing you all around and doing the activities. There was funny face biscuits, fingerprint keyrings and some foam cars to decorate, the children had all changed colour after using the felt tips in badger base!! They worked very hard in the days before father's day making sure their cards were ready to be gifted. We hope you loved them as much as the children did.
Our sport's day and Teddy Bears picnic was a great morning, thank you again for coming to join us. How amazing were the children at all the races. There was cup and ball races, water races and even a bean bag race that the children had to balance on their head!! After we enjoyed a yummy picnic lunch outside with our teddies. It was a day full of smiley faces.
Reddish Vale Farm was amazing! Thank you to everyone that came along to join us. The children (and the adults we hope) all had the best trip. It was lovely to see and feed all the different animals, though even with that many people a bucket of carrots disappeared very quickly! We got to see some piglets, some baby goats and a gorgeous baby donkey called Zachary. I think the most special part of our trip would have to be watching the birth of a new beautiful donkey. Mummy donkey was absolutely amazing and the children were all entranced, watching so patiently as baby arrived. Little Zoe is living happily at the farm with her Mummy and brother and would love if you could all go back to visit her.
Our Favourite Stories...
Well an absolute favourite of this half term would have to be 'The Magic Train Ride'. Onto the train we get to visit the magic wood, the land of cakes, the jungle and even into outer space. Our hands turn into train wheels and off we go getting faster and slower as we reach each station. Here is the link if you would like to have a listen at home.
Somehow another year has snuck away from us and it's time to break up for summer. As always it has been a busy one but we have made so many special memories, had lots of giggles and made the absolute most of every cuddle, every song and every minute that we have had with the children. Each and every day has been a new adventure. To all our children who will be coming back to play in September, we hope you have the best summer and enjoy a nice long break.
To our school leavers, we want to wish you all the very best on your next adventure at school. We have watched as you have all grown into amazing little people, growing confidence, making new friendships and making us laugh from something new each day. We know you are all ready for school and the teachers are very lucky to have you. Make sure to visit us at the fence and Mummies and Daddies please send us a picture of the children in their uniforms.
I would like to speak for all the staff when I say an enormous THANK YOU for our voucher, it was incredibly kind and generous of you all and we will enjoy a lovely trip out together with it. A big thank you aswell for all our other gifts, treats and cards. We have been given some beautiful new keepsakes which will be going up on the wall in our staff room.
